Weight Loss Plateau ImageLosing weight is not an easy task to accomplish. It doesn’t come off nearly as fast as we put it on, which makes it hard to deal with at times. We can’t just change the food we eat and expect the weight to melt away with a flash. It takes a lot of hard work. It’s a life style change you have to want in order for it to come off and stay off.

When you have an illness losing weight may be a necessity, but it may be more difficult than it would be for the average person that’s healthy other than the weight. A prime example of that would be a person with rheumatoid arthritis. The pain a person with rheumatoid arthritis feels can make it nearly impossible to exercise which makes it difficult to lose weight.

Exercise is a very important task to accomplish when you have rheumatoid arthritis, but it’s also very hard to do when you have so much pain. Simply walking from the sofa to the bed can be a challenge at best. The best way to handle exercise when you have this condition is to start out slow. Start out with short distances several times a day and increase as the pain decreases.

While you’re at home watching TV, get up on the commercials and walk across the room or walk to the bathroom and back a couple of times. The important thing is to get up several times a day and walk to different places in the house so you’re exercising your muscles. On the days when the pain is less, try to exercise a little more. The more you do the more weight you will lose and the less pain you’ll be in. This will take time, but if you continue to do it, the better you’ll feel.

Walking is one of the best forms of exercise, but it may also be the most difficult to do for a person with rheumatoid arthritis. You might also consider water aerobics, a stationary bike that has a full chair type seat, or an elliptical machine. These might make exercising a little easier to begin with, which is what you need when you’re trying to overcome the pain from rheumatoid arthritis.

While exercising is an important task to accomplish when you have rheumatoid arthritis, it’s one you need to be careful doing, so it’s best you talk to your doctor and make sure she knows what your plans are and how to help you. You don’t want to hurt yourself or cause more pain, so be sure to keep your doctor in the loop at all times.
